Stand in the Gap For The Hungry

Dear Friends,

The holidays are special and very nostalgic for me.  I think about times spent in the past with family and friends, from both near and far. It also brings back memories of my mother encouraging us to be thankful as she sang, “Count your blessings name them one by one, and it will surprise you what the Lord has done.” As I count my blessings, I am

While attending a get together at a friend’s home recently, the host introduced me to some of the other guests who were present. Kathy, a young woman in the group, looked at me and said, “Oh…I know CROS Ministries.  You have been a support system for my family.”  She then went on to share that after her father was laid off from work a few years ago, a friend told him about our pantry. This family was able to get a bag food and fresh produce from the pantry for several months, until their father was back on his feet again.  As we parted, Kathy hugged me and with tears in her eyes said, “Thank you to CROS for providing us with food when we needed it the most. You have no idea what that meant to us.”grateful for the many individuals, congregations, foundations and community groups who recognize the value of our work and give generously to CROS Ministries. Your donations enable our staff and volunteers to provide much needed nutritious food, and to Stand in the Gap for children, adults, seniors, veterans, people with disabilities and homeless individuals throughout the year.

From January – October 2019

  • 59,791 individuals received food from 8 CROS food pantries
  • 53,061 meals provided through The Caring Kitchen
  • 177 campers received lunch and a snack this summer
  • 604,674 pounds of fresh produce recovered (equivalent to 503,895 meals! based on Feeding America’s equation of 1.2 lbs. of food = 1 meal) during the 2018/2019 gleaning season

These numbers represent people, like Kathy and her family, who are holding on to hope for a brighter future. Because of your giving, they are reminded that they are not alone in their struggle; that someone cares.  Join me in supporting CROS Ministries so that we can continue serving the hungry and providing hope all year round. Together, we are Standing in the Gap and making a difference in our community.

Wishing you a holiday season filled with peace & love, and a New Year rich with blessings.

With Gratitude,

Ruth Mageria
Executive Director
