C.R.O.S. CAMPS

C.R.O.S. Urban Ministries has sponsored a one week residential camp for the past 20 summers. In 1991, in order to reach more children for a longer period of time, we expanded the Camp Outreach program to include a four-week day camp. The day camp format also allows more youth and adults to get involved in ministry to children by giving a few hours or a few days of their summer. Over the past couple years we have continued to expand this program to include three sites, now offering camp for six-weeks all day.

C.R.O.S. Day Club

The CROS Day Club will be eight hours of Arts & Crafts, Recreation, Bible Study, and Music. It is an opportunity for 40 children aged 6 to11 to take part in fun, supervised activities in a safe, nurturing Christian environment. The day club will be held every week day from June 12th through July 21st from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
( Rework message below)

Once again C.R.O.S. Urban Ministries will be offering 3 day clubs in West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach and Delray Beach. They will run for 6 weeks from June 12th - July 21st 2000, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. They are open to children ages 6 - 11 years, from families with low incomes. There is no cost to attend the day clubs. Children enjoy arts & crafts, music, games and a whole variety of other summer activities in a caring and Christian environment. The camp is Christian oriented, but non-denominational. Application forms may be obtained by calling (561) 833-9499. Parents need to have the form notarized and sent back to us together with a copy of the child’s birth certificate or school report card. We can only accept 40 children at each site on a first come, first served basis. The day clubs will be held at: Wagg Memorial United Methodist Church 4401 Garden Ave West Palm Beach, FL 33405 St. John’s United Methodist Haitian Mission 3215 N. Seacrest Blvd Boynton Beach, FL 33435 St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church 404 SW. 3rd St Delray Beach, FL 33444

Volunteer Need

The CROS Day Club is also a chance for loving youth and adults to share of themselves and to make friends with children who are in need of good friends. For the Day Club to work, we need many volunteers. Consider making one week of the C.R.O.S. Day Club a mission project for your Sunday School Class, Mission Committee, Men's or Women's group, or Youth group. This is a project your group can do on its own or you may find it easier to work in coalition with another group(s) in your congregation or with another congregation.

Details

Sponsoring a week of Day Club involves: 1. Providing Counselors and Junior Counselors for the week. About six Counselors and six Junior Counselors are needed to supervise activities each week. Counselors can be senior high youth or adults. Junior high youth can serve as Junior counselors. 2. Recruiting Activity Leaders from your group and congregation. Your counselors can plan and lead activities or you can call on additional resource persons in your congregation to come for a few hours during the week. 3. Planning the week's activities. The Day Club coordinator will work with you to help fill in the schedule where you are unable and will make sure that needed materials and equipment are available. Activities can include Sports and Recreation, Arts and Crafts, Bible Study, Music, and Drama. If you are interested, call (561) 833-9499 for an application. C.R.O.S. DAY CLUBS

Camp Outreach Page

C.R.O.S. Camp Outreach Camp Outreach is sponsored each year by Christians Reaching Out to Society (C.R.O.S. Ministries). It gives children between the ages 9 to11 an opportunity to enjoy arts and crafts, music, games, swimming, bible study, and a whole variety of other camp activities in a caring Christian environment. Camp Outreach will be held from Monday, July 31st to Friday, August 4th, 2000. The children will stay overnight at Camp Nocatee Girl Scout camp in Clewiston, sleeping with adult and young adult counselors who have been carefully chosen and trained. There is no cost to send your children to camp. Transportation to and from camp will be arranged.

If you would like your child to attend Camp Outreach, please call for an application. The form must be notarized and returned to our office as soon as possible. Children are accepted on a first come, first served basis. Only 50 children can be accepted.
