Gleaning
|
Gleaning is a biblical initiative that involves volunteers picking produce from farmers' fields that have been left from commercial harvesting methods. The food is distributed through the Food Recovery Program, operated by Village Baptist Church and the Community Food Alliance, to local agencies that work to feed the hungry in our community. In 2010, volunteers of C.R.O.S. Ministries gleaned 218,272 lbs. of produce. | View local news coverage of gleaning |
| Volunteers and volunteer groups are needed to glean fields from November to May. Gleaning events are generally held on Saturday mornings, special arrangements may be made for other days. |  |
